PHYTOPLANKTON
Phytoplankton represents various kind of autotrophs. They undergo photosynthesis, using carbon dioxide and light energy to convert into chemical energy. Phytoplankton is suitable for herbivores and omnivores, especially during their larva stages as phytoplankton, are small in size, e.g. Nannochloropsis oculata has a size under 5 micrometers. Phytoplankton is also used as live feeds for crustaceans, fish and other filter feeders. Furthermore, phytoplankton has a well balanced nutritional value, including carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. Additionally, vitamins, minerals, and fiber can also be obtained from them.
